Mingqian West Lake Longjing has long been presented as one of China’s most celebrated traditional teas and is historically associated with imperial tribute tea. It is grown in the core West Lake production area of Hangzhou, Zhejiang and hand-picked during the brief weeks before the Qingming Festival, when the early-spring buds and leaves are at their most tender.

The leaves are flat and straight, primarily displaying a one-bud-and-one-leaf form. When brewed, they produce a clear and bright yellow-green liquor with an elegant fresh aroma, gentle bean notes and delicate chestnut fragrance. The taste is fresh, mellow and smooth, followed by a refined sweetness and a soft, lingering finish.

Product Story and Tea Background

“Mingqian” refers to early-spring tea harvested before the Qingming Festival. During this concentrated seasonal period, the newly developed buds and leaves remain tender. West Lake Longjing is valued for its distinctive origin, refined leaf appearance and fresh early-spring character.

Aroma and Taste

The first sip is fresh, clean and smooth, with an elegant tender-leaf fragrance. Gentle bean notes and delicate chestnut aroma gradually develop through the middle of the tasting experience, accompanied by a mellow sweetness. The finish is clean, naturally sweet and softly lingering.

  • Tea amount: Approximately 3g
  • Water volume: Approximately 150ml
