Xinhui Green Mandarin Pu-erh combines the aromatic character of Xinhui green mandarin with Pu-erh tea in a distinctive whole-mandarin format. During brewing, hot water gradually reaches the tea inside the peel, allowing the fresh citrus aroma and Pu-erh tea character to develop together.
Each green mandarin can be brewed whole, making portioning simple for everyday drinking. It can be prepared in a clear glass, teapot or gaiwan and is suitable for everyday tea, afternoon drinking, after meals or sharing with friends.
Green Mandarin Pu-erh is one of the distinctive forms of Xinhui citrus tea. The mandarin fruit is prepared as a peel shell and filled with tea before drying and further processing. This whole-fruit format allows the citrus peel and tea to develop together during brewing.
Unlike ordinary loose Pu-erh, the tea is enclosed inside the mandarin peel. Hot water gradually passes through the opening and around the peel, releasing the citrus fragrance alongside the tea character.
The recommended flavour direction centres on fresh citrus-peel aroma and Pu-erh tea fragrance. The citrus character appears first, while the tea becomes more noticeable as the infusion develops. Brewing time can be adjusted according to the preferred strength.
Whole-mandarin method: Pre-warm the teaware and add one green mandarin. If preferred, rinse quickly with 100°C water for approximately 5–10 seconds and discard. Add approximately 250–300ml of hot water, directing some of the water through the opening at the top before allowing it to circulate around the peel. Begin tasting after approximately two minutes and extend towards three minutes if required.
Gaiwan method: Place one green mandarin in a 120–150ml gaiwan. After an optional quick rinse, begin with an infusion of approximately 10–15 seconds and extend later infusions gradually according to strength.
Broken-brew method: Gently break the mandarin and use approximately 3–5g of both peel and tea with around 150ml of 100°C water. Begin with approximately 20–30 seconds and adjust according to taste.
Store in a cool, dry, clean and odour-free place away from direct sunlight, moisture and excessive heat. Reseal the packaging after use and keep away from strongly scented foods or products.
